About Me

Welcome to The Tasty Bite!  I’m Karen and I’m glad you’ve stopped by.

Food has always been something near and dear to my heart.  My favorite food memories involve helping out in the kitchens of my mother and grandmother, sneaking a few bites here and there (to taste test, of course!), and gathering around a table of delicious, home-cooked dishes with my family.  With incredible role models to learn from, I’ve developed an eagerness to experiment with different flavors, textures, and cuisines.  I consider myself very fortunate to be surrounded by people who constantly support and inspire me to cook.  So, I’ve created this blog to share with you my favorite recipes, some inevitable kitchen disasters, and many culinary adventures along the way!  The Tasty Bite is about mastering the basic techniques and the classic dishes, and then turning them into something new and innovative.  I hope that you’ll like the recipes you find here, and most importantly, have fun with them!

Between the successes and mishaps in the kitchen, I am a lawyer working in New York.  I spent the early part of my childhood in Hong Kong, and now live in Brooklyn, where all of my cooking and baking take place.  I’m an avid coffee drinker.  Also a lover of pastries and all things sweet.  I love them even more with a cup of hot coffee.

Cousin Mike! Love your ramen quest. Have you tried Totto Ramen yet? It’s one of my favorites in the city if only the line wasn’t so long. By the way, let me know if you’re down for the ultimate ramen challenge: making ramen noodles and tonkotsu broth…from scratch! :)
